Ostia Antica and Cerveteri

yesterday we were in one of the oldest cities/towns in the world. this place was there hundreds of years before Christ. the stone road that runs through the middle of it once ran from Ostia Antica to Rome, which was about 20km. Ostia Antica served as a main hub for transportation and as a major port back then. it was where they would send things to Rome. i saw what they think was the first exercise gym. PRETTY COOOOOL. the small city was very similar to the way towns are today: a main road, the city hall, the residual area, and the theaters. while a lot of things have changed, lots has stayed the same.

then we traveled to Cerveteri. it was a beautiful day as we looked at rocks and hundreds of ancient tombs. the tombs used to be HUGE back then. we got to walk through one [yikes]. the ancient ones are dome shaped, then they started running out of space (i think) so they made them smaller and more square, like apartment style.

i loved today because it was very chill. we werent in a hurry so we just got to leisurely stroll around these historic landmarks. and it was only hot for half the day, so yippee for that! i cannot wait for the season to change and watch the leaves begin to fall and change colors. oh and so i can wear my cute fall clothes :)

here are some memories from the day:
